How GlowShift Oil Pressure Gauges Work
GlowShift’s analog and digital oil pressure gauges are electronically driven and use a 1/8-27 NPT oil pressure sensor. The sensor can be installed directly to locations including the oil gallery or an oil gallery test port. By using an oil filter sandwich adapter or an oil cooler adapter, installation will be even easier. A T-Fitting can also be used by attaching it to the included oil pressure sensor or the factory pressure sensor. Installation will vary by application and may require additional threading adapters.

High Pressure vs. Low Pressure Automotive Oil Pressure Gauges
Ideally, you want your oil pressure reading to be at a median level. A high pressure reading is generally 80 PSI or over while driving at higher RPMs. This may vary by vehicle and each owner should verify the specifics in their vehicle manual. High oil pressure occurs when an unusually high amount of pressure is needed to circulate oil through the engine. A few common causes of high oil pressure can be a bad pressure relief valve, blockage in the oil delivery lines, or a malfunctioning oil pump that restricts the flow of oil. A low oil pressure reading is generally below 15 to 20 PSI while idling. A low reading can occur in cold weather where the oil pump may take a little longer to deliver the oil to the engine. Other common causes of low oil pressure can be worn bearings, a broken oil pump or an overdue oil change. Keep in mind that truck and car oil pressure gauges may display lower or higher readings in cold weather due to the viscosity of the oil or a delay in the oil pump delivering oil to the engine. If your gauge is reading high or low oil pressure, be sure to get it checked as soon as possible as this can quickly lead to engine failure.
