1987-1991 Ford F-Series Overview
The 1987-1991 Ford F-Series is the 8th Generation of this model Ford truck. The 8th Gen F-Series featuring the IDI engine was designed to be more streamlined and require less maintenance. The only features which did not change from the 1980 model were the cab and chassis, while any other upgrades were completely new. Overall, this 8th Generation truck experienced a facelift with new composite headlamps, a more aerodynamic front end, and circular fenders. The interior was completely redesigned as well. In fact, this F-Series truck was the first to have standard anti-lock brakes. Other additions included straight-sided styleside beds. Later in 1991, Ford premiered the 9th Generation tail lights on the last year of the Eighth Gen model.
