MaxTow’s Black & Green Double Vision™ Ambient Air Temperature Gauge displays the outside air temperature from -20° to 120° Fahrenheit. This gauge takes accurate readings with the included Electronic Air Temperature Sensor which installs to any lower portion of your truck -- such as behind the front bumper or wheel well area -- where it will not be affected by engine heat.
Black & Green Double Vision™ Gauge Series
MaxTow’s Black & Green Double Vision™ Gauge Series features a black gauge face and green LED display with an illuminated red needle, giving you the classic look of an analog gauge combined with an easy-to-read green digital numerical readout. The Double Vision™ Gauge Series offers multiple options and added convenience when monitoring the performance of your truck. This 2-1/16” (52mm) gauge outperforms the competition with features like stepper motor technology which allows for all needle movement to be exceptionally smooth and all gauge readings to be extremely accurate. This Analog & Digital Ambient Air Temperature Gauge also comes equipped with daytime and nighttime dimming modes that have three customizable brightness settings (low, medium, high) for each. These multiple dimming options allow you to set your individual preference when hitting the road during the day or at night. The included brightness recall function will remember the previous brightness setting you had before powering your vehicle down so you won’t have to reset it every time you turn on your truck.
Why Do I Need An Outside Temperature Gauge?
Outside temperature can affect the way your engine performs. It’s true. Even though your truck is built to manage temperature fluctuations, extreme temperatures can equate to a loss in horsepower, reduced fuel economy, overheating, engine knocking and more. Knowing the temperature of the air entering your engine will help you determine if your engine is performing optimally. With this gauge you’ll have access to precise outside air temp readouts in relation to the temperature inside your cabin. Although many newer trucks already have this feature installed, a lot of classic models do not. After receiving multiple requests from owners of older-style trucks, we made it a priority to add this gauge to our lineup.
How Do I Mount The Ambient Air Temperature Sensor?
The ambient air temperature sensor has a built-in mounting clip which allows it to be mounted to the front of the truck on the radiator support using an existing bolt or screw. The sensor can also be mounted behind the vehicle’s grill or bumper as long as air passes over it. No matter which location you choose, ensure the sensor is mounted where it will be free of any obstructions that could block outside air from passing over it.
Parts for Installation
The ambient temperature sensor features a black stem and 2 blade connector as well as a mounting bracket that ensures the stem will not come into contact with any part of the vehicle. In addition to the sensor, this Outside Air Temperature Gauge Kit features extended wire lengths for both power (5 ft) and temperature sensor (18 ft) harnesses to ensure you’ll have more than enough wire for installation. Both attach to the back of the gauge easily by utilizing Plug and Play connectors. You will also receive a gauge visor that attaches to the gauge in order to reduce the amount of sun glare. All mounting hardware and installation instructions come standard with each purchase.
